Chapter 4 - Exponents and Polynomials

Sec4.1 Section4.1-Positive Integral Exponents 1.  Find the square, cube, 4th,…,nth powers of a monomial.
2.  Find the quotient of two monomials.

Sec4.2 Section4.2-Polynomials 3.  State the degree of a polynomial written in a single variable.
4.  Write a polynomial in decreasing or ascending order.
5.  Determine the degree of a polynomial written in several variables and the degree of each term.
6.  Find the value of a polynomial given specific values for the variable(s).

Sec4.3 Section4.3-Addition of Polynomials 7.  Find the sum of two or more polynomials using either a horizontal or vertical format.
8.  Find the sum of two or more polynomials written in several variables using either a horizontal or vertical format.

15.  Divide one polynomial by another, each written in the same variable, finding the quotient and remainder.

Sec4.7 Section4.7-Negative and Zero Exponents 16.  Rewrite an expression with a negative exponent as one with a positive exponent.
17.  Rewrite decimal numerals in scientific notation.
